A Note on Why I Design
Imagination isn’t just what I do; it’s how I think.
I’m drawn to work that lives at the intersection of cultural relevance, narrative depth, and environments that move people emotionally as much as physically. That intersection is where experiences stop being events and start becoming memories.
With over 16 years of experience leading experiential design, brand activations, and large-scale live events, I specialize in transforming abstract ideas into immersive moments that resonate long after the lights go down. My work spans audiences of 100,000+ to intimate, design-forward narratives, always rooted in the belief that scale should never diminish intention.
I currently serve as a Senior Creative Director at Sparks (Freeman), where I lead multidisciplinary teams in shaping global conferences, brand environments, and high-impact experiential platforms for some of the world’s most recognized companies. Alongside my agency work, I am the founder and creative director of ADELINE, an avant-garde footwear brand built on the philosophy of designing “out of line.” Through ADELINE, I explore footwear as architecture for the body—sculptural, expressive, and deeply personal merging my background in environmental design with fashion and narrative storytelling.
My approach is environment-led and story-driven. I think about how people enter a space, how they move through it, what they feel at pivotal moments, and what stays with them afterward. Brand values, to me, should not be explained; they should be felt. Across concept development, narrative strategy, attendee journey design, and entertainment integration, I aim to balance creative ambition with clarity of purpose, ensuring each experience serves both emotional connection and strategic impact.
What I bring goes beyond deliverables. I bring perspective shaped by curiosity, pattern recognition, and deep collaboration. An instinct for seeing possibilities others might overlook. And the leadership to help teams bring those possibilities to life with confidence and precision.
Thank you for being here.
Warmly,
Nicholas Hixon
