A year after designing Stephen Curry’s 30th, I was honored to be invited back to create Ayesha Curry’s milestone celebration, an unforgettable Jamaican Dancehall–inspired evening held at Terra Gallery in SoMa. The environment was immersive from the first step inside: oversized tropical floral sculptures bursting with color, layered palms and vibrant blooms, modern yet feminine furnishings, and warm, rhythmic lighting that set the tone for an elevated island fête. Curated rum tastings and authentic Jamaican jerk cuisine anchored the cultural narrative, while a custom cake commissioned from Ace of Cakes and shipped from New York added a bespoke, celebratory centerpiece. Guest DJs fueled the energy as attendees danced across a glowing floor emblazoned with Ayesha’s signature, a graphic that also appeared as a dramatic 16-foot 3D installation spanning a feature wall.

The most talked-about activation of the night began as a simple “wig station” request but evolved into a full fashion spectacle. We introduced “Weaven Steven,” a renowned experiential weave artist known for show-stopping hair creations, who designed three custom wigs inspired by Dancehall glamour. The reveal became a production moment: an illuminated curved staircase rising to a runway presentation, metallic gold mannequins serving as sculptural props, and Steven’s creations unveiled as wearable art pieces. The choreography of light, music, and movement transformed the space into a high-fashion performance, blurring the line between party and show. The result was a celebration layered with culture, craftsmanship, and theatrical flair, bold, dynamic, and unapologetically vibrant, perfectly reflecting the spirit of its guest of honor.
